Stories with Spirit

Stories with Spirit combines spoken word and music to help adults and children express and heal from loss and grief.  Stories and songs gently and compassionately elicit thoughts, experiences and beliefs about death and loss while providing therapeutic metaphors and imagery that give voice to personal stories without judgment or behavioral prescription.

Stories with Spirit offers:

Expressive developmentally appropriate story and music programs for grieving children and young adults ages 4-17.

Effective workshops for children ages 4-17 that express and explore grieving through video, music and storytelling.

Practical training workshops for adults in the use of spoken word and music in bereavement work.

Restorative bereavement workshops and retreats for grieving adults that focus on shared experiences, creative expression, and quiet reflection.

Inspiring keynotes on the use of stories and songs to compassionately, joyfully and thoughtfully hold death and the life challenges it brings.

In her workshop, Diving and Emerging, Regina gently yet powerfully showed us the magic of storytelling for helping grieving children and their families.
She wove experiential activities with storytelling, teaching and storytelling practice to create a fun, interactive workshop that taught us a lot.  Everyone who attended the workshop got practical ideas to use in their work as well as a better understanding of how to connect the grief journey to universal themes explored through stories.
This workshop inspired confidence in those of us brand new to storytelling and gave experienced folks some new tools for connecting with their audience and telling stories about grief.

Why Tell a Story poster

Why Tell a Story

In 2005, while I was completing hospice volunteer training, my brother Tim was killed in a car accident. Shortly after that both my parents died within six months of one another.  The stories and songs that brought joy, solace and comfort to others now brought their healing touch to my own life and changed the direction of my life as an artist. Since 2009, I have been traveling the country to sing, tell stories and lead workshops for bereaved and dying children and adults in homes, hospices and hospitals. Stories with Spirit is dedicated to bringing the powerful prescriptive medicine of stories to grieving children and the adults who love and serve them.
