It helps them sequence the story in the proper order, it stimulates their small motor skills and brings them delight as they present their “character” and character voices. This simple chant is a way for you to prepare your child or class of children for finger play.

First, rub your hands together very quickly to make a swishing sound. Then you say and the children repeat…

I’m gonna put my story in my feet! (touch feet)

I’m gonna put my story in my knees! (touch knees)

I’m gonna put my story in my hips! (touch hips)

I’m gonna put my story in my tummy! (touch tummy)

I’m gonna put my story in my chest! (pound chest)

I’m gonna put my story in my ears! ( flap ears)

I’m gonna put my story in my hair! (comb hair)

I’m gonna put my story in my voice! (sing lah)

I’m gonna put my story in you! Catch It! ( toss the story to the children)

Now their ready to do the finger play!
